Healthy Families Androscoggin

A voluntary home visiting program to help new parents get their children
off to a healthy start in life! As a new parent, you will learn about your child's
development and find out about activities that help your child grow and develop.

Healthy Families is for you if:

  • This is your first time as a parent
  • You live in Androscoggin County
  • You want parenting and child development information and materials
  • You would like access to books, videos, and audiotapes on parenting
  • You have questions about parenting children from birth to 5 years old

How do I enroll?

  • Through either Central Maine Medical Center or St. Mary's Reg'l Medical Ctr
  • Prenatally, through your doctor or midwife
  • Or by calling us directly at 207-783-3990

    Parents as Teachers developmental curriculum
    Family Support

    Parent-child activities that promote growth and development
    Regular development screenings
    Family health monitoring
    Activities, including crafts, potluck dinners and picnics,
    toy- making  and play groups
    Opportunities to attend workshops and seminars designed for
    parents of young children.

What can Healthy Families Androscoggin
do for me?

  • Provide information on child safety including childproofing your home, car seat safety and childhood lead poisoning prevention.
  • Provide "The Growing Years" newsletter from the University of Maine Cooperative Extension, free of charge
  • A Certified Parent Educator can provide home visiting and other educational support services
  • Offer information and answers to your questions
  • Offer services to increase knowledge of childhood health and development and other parenting information
  • Offer community resource information and referrals
 

There is no fee for this service.
